Downloaded, installed, and failed.

I ran it and it shows the splash screen for a few seconds, then that window shows "...has encountered a problem and needs to close." along with the [Send Error Report] and [Don't Send] buttons. I searched the forums to close to an hour already and all the responses was the typical "check your drivers." I read somewhere else it had something to do with some admin thing, so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it to somewhere outside of c:/program files and still the same problem. I did restart my system after each install, same problem. Thanks in advance to anyone who has a different solution to making this work.

I saw all the awesome screenshots that Captain posted, saw all the free video courses, and I thought this was going to be a Blender destroyer but wow, a problem this early is so discouraging.

Best to register (both for tS7.6 and for the forums) so we can provide better support than here in the visitor area. We'd also need more information, in particular details on your graphics card and your OS, though regular PC specs are also useful.

Checking drivers is important, and indeed running the program as admin can help, even if you install outside the programs directory. Let us know if either of those make a difference.

HTH!

Try running it in Windows 98 compatibility mode. You'll find this in the Properties dialog of the shortcut (or the progam .EXE itself). Works flawlessly, though I'm a bit disappointed ..

I installed it yesterday and it crashed IMMEDIATELY. Nothing helped - lowering my screen colors to 16-bit, disabling my external monitor (a problem with TS3 i had..), restarting, removing some files that TS7 generates during starting up as mentioned in some threads (it didn't have time to create any files though because it crashed the first time I started the application).

My system is a laptop with

Radeon 9700 mobility

AMD Athlon 64 3700+

2GB DDR400

A lot of free space

External monitor.

Windows XP SP3 (I wonder if it's the service pack causing this...?)

SP3 rendered my laptop useless so I had to uninstall it...you never know, that could be the cause!

As for tS, I have used every version since 1 and have never had any trouble running it. There is nothing wrong with the program per se but without sitting in front of your PC it is hard to diagnose exactly what it might be.

PC's are tempramental things. I tried to run the Sims2 on my daughters PC the other day and it kept rebooting the PC at the same point (creating a family). I went through hours of FAQ's, forums etc. and nothing helped. At one point I even considered buying a new PC as I was convinced it was hardware. It should fly on an AMD XP3000+ and Radeon 9800 PRO.

The solution? Uninstall the latest Catalyst 8.8 drivers and put in the 4.8's that I remember being so reliable. Works a treat with no reboots...just goes to show that updating drivers is not always the best thing...:(

Several knowledgable forum members were having none of it saying that drivers alone could not be the cause, must be hardware, faulty RAM etc. But everything is fine and you would never usually think to put in drivers that are 4 generations old!!

No problem, I'll definitely send you the error dumps as soon as I'm at my work computer the next time. The only thing I can remember it was related to the TSXAPI.DLL file.
