I've toyed around with the TrueSpace 7.6 download for the past 2 days, but I find it hard to see that it can accommodate what I need. It looks as if I'm bound to viewing my projects only in TrueSpace or GameSpace. Is this true ?

I want to create a 3D animated creature sequence, insert a .mov formatted scene clip as its background, save the newly combined sequence, and transfer it out of TrueSpace to be shown as a clip in the .mov or .wmv format to be viewed in Quicktime or Windows Media Player. Is there any known software that can accommodate me ?

You can render out a sequence of stills for use in your video editing program. The encoder for MOV format requires purchase of Quicktime Pro. Windows Media Encoder is free and can encode to WMV format.

I use Sony Vegas to handle the process of going from stills to encoded video since not only is it a very powerful and easy to use video editor it can also handle encoding to WMV and MOV both.

A free solution that you can use is to use Virtualdub to encode the stills into an AVI and then Windows Media Encoder to convert from AVI to WMV. The thing you have to watch out for in this process is that unless you are using lossless codecs each encoding of the video significantly degrades it's quality.

Two lossless codecs that I have used are Lagarith and TechSmith. CamStudio has a lossless codec but I haven't been able to get it to work with Vista x64 so can't comment on whether or not it works.

You won't be able to use a MOV as a background. You could use an image sequence or WMV or AVI as an animated texture on the workspace side if you are rendering with Lightworks (but still not a MOV).

You could render from tS without a background and use compositing software to "green screen" it on top of the MOV (so long as you have the MOV encoder as Jack mentions).

tS can certainly render to image sequence for compositing into a WMV, AVI (or MOV is you have the encoder), or go straight to WMV or AVI (not sure about MOV) from Lightworks on the Model side (image sequence is highly recommended method though, see other threads discussing that, and that would allow V-Ray and the real-time render too).

Hope this answers your questions!
