Your nightmare has given me the idea to make centibots falling from the sky! This implies that the cliff is a huge block floating in the sky. indeed, it becomes worrisome.
Each image, each comment help me to build the story. :) |

This thread becomes more and more impressive for each day. First it was superb modeling. Now you have added superb lightning and texturing also.
Might I ask you where you get your excellent textures from? :D |

Thank. I use photography for my texture. I don't like procedural. It is impersonal (it is my opinion). i generally dirty up the photo for each objet. it is a paint job, not 3d. You can find a lot of free textures. here is an example from a french 3d artist:
http://www.lemog.fr/lemog_textures/index.php
But with internet you can find all you need (while remaining legal) ;) |

I hope to have time to continue but I need to work elsewhere and remains the hardest to do with animation and special effects (in a few months). But first, I will prepare some detailed views of shots to the head of eyebot, the column of energy and other objects.
I already have a script but if you have an idea for a clip with this scene I would be useful to have different opinions. :)
thank you for all the ideas that I used through all your comments. |

I do not have much time right now to continue. I improved the eyebot. I can give an aspect more "comic book" using the reflectance Caligari metal.
As I proposed a few days ago do not hesitate to propose ideas for surreal story using the previous scenes. It is for a clip that I would like to do later. :) |

A story? It might be interesting for the bots to run into some life - maybe a rat gets into the factory, puzzling the bots as to what it is, what it is for. Something new they haven't encountered. |

Ok Marcel.... you asked for it.....
From where I sit, the structure of the scenes you have done would work well for a story line of the bots constructing the building and the bridge. In this case I would expect the exterior of the building to be unfinished and one or two bots working on finishing the exterior construction.
The partially formed stone bridge would lead to the next rock pillar that would be where the next building would be constructed. You could even go so far as to have bots constructing the next rock pillar from surrounding materials.
The buildings then could concievably be part of a great power array to either power a massive communications system or act as part of a wireless power delivery system to a central collection point.
The central collection point, fed by thousands of power sources, could then send a single beam to:
a) the sun of a solar system thereby keeping the planets going,
b) a signal star, or beacon star, perhaps the North Star, as a guide for travellers. You could make this interesting by panning to the star and then to Christopher Columbus star gazing to get to the States.
c) going the microscopic route, power a cell in a growing plant
d) power an Intel CPU running Windows 7.... it would make a pretty ad don't you think? :D
If you want more crazy ideas please feel free to ask..... |

@TomG: That is a good idea. This reminds me of when the machines are discovering life on earth in my last movie. This is a theme I love because men asks the same question about the machine. but this time, the surreal atmosphere can change everything. ;)
@ V3r3d: I like the idea of using the column of energy as a laser and a signal. it is an interesting graphic element for starting the clip! I imagine a shutter at the top of the column directed towards the sky. is decided, I'll do.
I have a doubt: Is v3r3d the companion of r2-d2 and c-3po? :D
the work I do in this thread becomes a mixture of ideas from members of this forum. it's nice to share even if I'm alone to do the job. I hope the result will be worthy of this assistance. :) |

Love this project, don't have any suggestions as I think you've got it well under control.
You could make this interesting by panning to the star and then to Christopher Columbus star gazing to get to the States.
Columbus never saw (http://www.calstatela.edu/faculty/eviau/edit557/vespucci/dan/m302.html) what would later become the USA. |

...And then they try to replicate a mechanical rat..."resistance is futile" ! |

Actually v3rd3 comes from being new to 3d and a 3d game player.
Leet speak, common with gamers in the steam community, converts numbers to letters. The "3" is actually "E".
Being new I wanted a tag that would reflect how new I am to the art. My wife is Portugese so I often end up drinking Vinho Verde "Green Wine", actually a white but I digress...
Calling myself a "newbie",or variation thereof, was excessive. I am definitely not that new.
As such I thought of a different term..... "greenhorn". Ciphering ("encoding") Greenhorn in leet speak became cumbersome and at times obscene so I settled on "Green" representing my "newness". Hence "V3rd3".
Besides, in future years when I have solved the world economic crisis and other problems plaguing humanity I need a name that would look good on a cereal box. :D |

The gesture of bot is similar to what a human would do when telling a fish-story: "It was this big!" :) |

Here is the latest update for the framing of the video. Each image must be perfect without touch-ups as it is to make an animation. Each elements created separately were grouped to avoid bad connections shots. I think using hd 16/9 (time render will be very long). The perspective is accentuated with the focal length of the camera. it lacks the effects of post production (électricity, smoke and flashing spots). |

You've got to do more things with this world. Revisit it occasionally to create a new place and scene showing more of this world.
Great texture on those rocks. I like the moss and cracks. You should put some moss on the castle.
These pictures look like they should be in a fantasy/science fiction movie so it is good that you are animating it.
It has some Geiger, some Lovecraft, and a lot of Marcel! |

thank finis. You are right. I need to create a new place and objets. maybe something organic as TomG suggested with the rat or an underground world within the rock or something moving as water falls into the void... it can be a sequence for next step. Before i would like to try some animations test. :) |

Here is a very simple method to duplicate an object on an inclined plane without deforming and respecting the perspective (almost). |

I got a reputation thing from this thread! I never got a reputation thing before. There's no comment (not much use without a comment) and it shows a grey or blueish box. I'll guess green is good so gray is neutral or bad? No point in giving a neutral rep. point. I don't care what my reputation box says but it was interesting to see what rep. point message message is like.
I still don't understand how the duplication works. |

Top right hand corner of the message is a tab space that has the post # for the thread and than 2 icons to the right. The center one is for Adding or Subtracting from a users reputation. It is a very seldom used feature on the forums, but it is an indication of the user's involvement too. I try to hand them out occassionally, most of the guys I can think of I have already rep'ed, you 2 I had not... trying to share because of something that happened to me...

Marcel, in addition to what Rich said, the green box under your post count shows your reputation. A few people have boxes that aren't green.
Thanks Rich. That rep message had a green box. I sorted the members list by rep and saw there is a red box. Interested from curiosity. I'll take my rep from from what people post.
I'll leave that alone now because this thread is about armbots. |

This month I appreciated both robert. Steinie for the fun and Plante for the wall. It would have been good for the vestiges in my scene. :)
....and the centibot who want to cut the pig. :D |
