Just another playing around with materials. Because of the glow effect the render process did run for almost five hours on a dual core machine. |

emma 5 hours is a long time !
You might want to look at Topmod ( a free application) for making the wire
and here I used Kerkythea 15 minutes at Mlt bpt for 500x500 px.
Theres so much potential for experimenting with it if your interested in going that direction....:) |

yes, I like experimenting :D
The reason it took so long for me may be that I used the whole wire framework as a glowing source. This way you still can see the whole wireframe while the mirror surface reflects the glow.
Your result ist marvellous, astonishing for a free renderer. But maybe you used a light source to get the glowing ball ?
Will look into Topmod too, thanks, never heard of it before:) |

Heres how I did it Emma !
I made the vase in the modeler with the wireframe just like you see it.
Then I impoted the mesh into Topmod and that made the wire shape.
In Kerkythea i just added a glowmaterial to that wire and it rendered
just like this in 15 minutes. No extra lights.
Heres the wireshaped object with thicker mesh so that you can see
how i made it ! |

15 mins?! I had my bike rendering for nearly 24 hrs and it was only on pass 352 when i quit, on mtl bst lol (mainly because I noticed a huge error that didn't show up on other settings)
Really stunning effects :D |

Nigec, I supose you are refering to Kerkythea too.
You don't need to wait any number of passes. 352 are a lot of passes, 30-50 will do fine, and then use a retouching program to remove noise. |

The number of passes depend on the setup you have and the lights plus the size of the scenes. I go to about 50 passes most of the time and rafa is right i pass it through noise removal mostly paint shop pro in my case i did same on this one too !But you can equally use photon mapping on this scene
and I haved got settings that let you render realy fast...;) |
