Here for you pro-war die hards is a quote from one of your very own full
blooded American Natives. Makes alot of sense to me since all this killing and invading of another country was not at all necessary. And now it seems it's coming to light that there were underlying reasons that this whole war took place which had absolutely nothing to do with terrorism or freedom of the American people. Quote by Daywalker: The military hasn't had to protect me from anything except terrorists, and fighting this war in iraq is avoiding attacking any of the nations that the terrorists that bombed us live in or that al-Qaeda is rumored to be harbored by. Let's see...they didn't protect me in the first Gulf War either, I do not live in Kuwait. Before that...they did not protect any Americans from invasion by the evil Vietnamese. Nor did Korea actually threaten the US then. Hell, they have nukes now...we still don't consider them enough of a threat to worry about. Japan, there's a coutry that actually threatened America. Except...Hawaii did not become a state until after WW2...so that was not really an attack on our country...it was an attack on a military base. So, the Japanese attacked the military, not the people of this nation or this nation's land...so the military defended Europe from the Germans and fought to protect ITSELF from Japan. That's still not protecting the freedoms of the people of this nation at all. WW1? Nope. No one here protected. Spanish American War? Expansionism. There would have been no need to protect Americans from anyone if we were not trying to take land from other nations by force. Civil War? Us fighting each other. No one was fighting for the freedom of Americans...actually, the fighting for freedom was being done by the faction who wanted to stop Americans and start their own country. When, exactly, is the last time the military fought to protect the freedoms of Americans? The last time we were actually threatened with a takeover? Like...the war of 1812 maybe? That's almost 200 years ago. I was not here, neither were you. The men who actually fought and dies protecting the freedoms of American citizens were long dead before your grandmother was a gleam in your great grandfather's eye. Also, just a note, I'm black and Native American....and those men sure as hell were not fighting to protect MY freedoms at all when they fought the English again. So no one's fought for my freedom, except for the Revolutionary war...but wait...no, that wasn't to free people like me either. In other words, our military has not fought for your freedom in about two centuries, and never fought for mine at all. End Quote Maybe the ones who are too young to know any better should listen when the elders who've been around a while talk. They have some idea what they're talking about. |
