Why are you being such an idiot? If YOU are whining about how people
complain about you using your caps, STOP USING THEM, or else shut up. It's as simple as that fool. -- -Mike Nelson- AIM AWBirdMike AW Cit BirdMike (292200) Owner of AW World A-Centre Member of USWF Online Status IndicatorsJan 26, 2000, 12:18am
I wish that Active Worlds would have a function like that of ICQ, which
indicates whether the user is Free, Busy, Away From Keyboard, Privacy (Invisible), Not Available, etc. In other words, some sort of indicator of the online status of those on the Contacts List. It would make things much easier, because sometimes I will leave the computer to get something, get side-tracked, and when I finally return to the computer have multitudes of telegrams saying "Hi!" "Why won't you let me join you?" "Are you there?" This may be asking too much, but it is my wish! -- -Mike Nelson- List of stuff i wanna see added and doneJun 8, 2000, 2:02am
AW 4.0 release in 5 years! What a long time to wait!

This is just my view of this whole thing:
Why would the AWCI people want to release the source code that they own and create the possibility of another party improving the software BUT marketing it on their own and over throwing AWCI? Although open source code might very well improve Active Worlds, I think that there is ABSOLUTELY no chance of AWCI creating competition for themselves. Of course you all will disagree, but I just think that this is kind of a common sense issue. -- -Mike Nelson- AW Cit BirdMike (292200) Owner of AW Worlds A-Build & A-Centre Protecting ChildrenJul 12, 2000, 11:18pm
I want a password protection feature implemented in AW to protect children
from adult worlds and adult content. -- -Mike Nelson- AW Cit BirdMike (292200) Owner of AW Worlds A-Build & A-Centre Protecting ChildrenJul 14, 2000, 9:53am
Although I agree with you in the whole thing that password protection SHOULD
not be necessary, I think that as a legality it is required. I am not at all familiar on the subject, but aren't adult websites REQUIRED to have password protection, or at least a warning of the content on the webpage? If AW won't implement a password protection feature, they should at least have a pop-up alert every time you visit an adult world stating that the world is an adult world and that children should leave right away. Nornny, just because in an ideal world PW protection isn't needed, and smart kids can find a way around it, AW would actually be making an effort to protect children. Don't take this personally, it's just part of a discussion. Fullscreen IdeaJun 17, 2000, 9:01pm
I like that idea, especially the one about the transparent chat window.
They would have to restyle it, but it would be better. The idea about the voice chat implement would be nice if it had some way of determining who to listen to. Example: at the crowded GZ's of AW and AWGate, if it just played one voice at a time it would be impossible to carry on a conversation. Maybe if you moved the cursor over the person you wanted to listen to, or if you faced that person, it would make you focus your attention on that person by tuning out all of the other voices like we do when we talk among a large group. Just my ideas. -- -Mike Nelson- AW Cit BirdMike (292200) Owner of AW Worlds A-Build & A-Centre [View Quote] I wish they'd do away with the limit on how many people can come intoJun 27, 2000, 10:43am

I wish that AW would implement new objects on a regular basis.
Ex: Like at TheSims.com, every Thursday, or SimDay, they would release some new game add-on, bit of information, or addition to their website. If AW did this weekly, they could release an objects a week, and by doing so create some interest within the community. Just something I would like to see done. -- -Mike Nelson- AW Cit BirdMike (292200) Owner of AW Worlds A-Build & A-Centre name color changeJul 6, 2000, 11:30am
Eep, I like the complete list you composed of AW improvements.

> on-line game, I am afraid 1. More ppl would leave and not come back. 2. > AWCOM would lose all its money and go bankrupt. It is my understanding that he wants it more game-like, with updated features. Besides, gaming is MUCH more popular anyway, and if AW was updated, boxed, and sold, it would most likely become very successful. AW would never destroy their building features anyway. That is what keeps them in business. You see, if AW focused on creating better software to handle better game worlds, then it really could become successful. But the key to that would be updating. > Eep drop the "gaming idea" no one is going to buy it. LOL. Yeah right. AW not a gameJul 9, 2000, 10:50pm
What you say about the killing feature, well, I don't agree with you there.
I am sure that no one who is with AW now (to build or chat) would want a feature like that implemented. But how you say it could happen to you in any world, well, that already exists in a way. It's called ejection. If I sound rude, excuse me. It's just this whole tread hasn't been that polite, has it? AW not a gameJul 11, 2000, 3:13am
Thanks for clearing that up. I didn't quite know what you meant with the
killing function, but now I agree with you from your definition. If someone killed you and your citizenship "died" with you, that would REALLY stink. Once again sorry for sounding rude. We need a new groupNov 21, 2000, 12:02am

How about a way to make the move and rotate commands on an object allow the
object to move you? I don't know how it could be done, but it would be interesting to see things like realistic rollercoasters, cars, ski lifts, etc. Maybe a way to move the avatar along with the object without a bot? -- -Mike Nelson- AIM AWBirdMike AW Cit BirdMike (292200) Owner of AW World A-Centre Member of USWF someone who is getting MADDDDDApr 8, 2001, 9:08pm

That's what the AW newsgroups are all about, flame wars. In my opinion, it
actually keeps them interesting, or at least entertaining. [View Quote] AW WebbrowserAug 2, 2001, 2:16pm
BTW, it isn't a good idea to put your telephone numbers in a newsgroup.
Anyone could telebomb you, like what happened to one of my friends. [View Quote] I think we should have an option to set where we want URL's to be opened. When I click on a URL or link in activeworlds I dont really like the way that it takes up halve of my screen. I would much rather see it open in my internet explorer window or have the option to set where my browser is located. Would be nice to have the choice of using the internal browser or an external one.
