I've got a strange problem that I just don't understand (trueSpace related before anyone starts!).

I can insert primitives and lights in workspace no problem. If I try to insert any primitives or lights on Model side they just don't appear. They're listed in the Scene Editor but they do not show up on screen, either Model or Workspace side. Cubes will show if I render the window but only cubes.

I've tried with the bridge on/off, tried a new scene, restarted, etc, etc.

Any clues cos I'm tearing my hair out. I want to keep the Bridge off while I work on something a bit poly intensive. Sure, there are workarounds but that's not the point. Anyone know what's going on and how to fix it?

Are you trying to use the Workspace primitives icons (at the bottom of the application) while in model side? Or the model side primitives (over by the trashcan)? ;)

model side. Inserting ws prims in ws is fine. Model side prims in model side - no dice

It's working fine for me.... can you post a video?

Video? 'fraid not. There's nothing to see anyway - that's the point! I'm not doing anything different to how I've always done it. Select prim, click, it appears. Only now it doesn't!

Don't know what to suggest other than resetting to default context.

This is a wild guess but you could try experimenting with the synchronization. Try Bridge 'On' and then try Bridge 'Auto'. Also try the different synch methods - smart synch, full merge etc.

I recall experiencing similar problems but can't really say what I did to get past it.

I've tried every combination of bridge on, off and auto ness that I can think off. No go. Even tried a cold boot - no change. Looking for any solution that doesn't involve a re-install.

just a thought..do you have invisible layers in model? that is the only way I can get a result similar to what you are experiencing..

Nope, layers set to visible, objects set to visible. The little 'bobble' that's in a corner to set individual object properties is there but nothing else. A cube will render with the Lightworks engine but that's all. This is crackers and there has to be a simple solution somewhere cos, as far as I'm aware, I didn't do anything to make this happen! So, any suggestions, no matter how obvious or obscure they may seem will be extremelly welcomed.

Not sure why it would affect model side but to you have the mesh opacity set to zero on workspace side?

Also check your material setting on WS side since that doesn't get reset when you start a new scene.

I think you've got us all stumped with this one WWW, feel like there's gotta be a prize at the end of this rainbow. :D Not sure what you've won though....

www,

I don't know if this is it - but try selecting the primitive, then looking at/rt click it in the scene editor box - I found a 'visible' option in there that makes them invisible/visible. Sorry ahead of time if you've already tried this.

I'VE FIXED IT!!! WOOHOO!!!

Thanks Jack and rrf for the additional suggestions though it was none of that. Had a look in the object info box to see what that showed and it was displaying absolute garbage. Weird symbols mixed with numbers. I changed the grid snap xyz units and all it's as if it was never broken. I had X set at 0 while Y & Z were at .01. Would seem that it doesn't like being at 0 as I can replicate the problem. Hadn't noticed that but would have thought zero was equivalent to 'no snap' - guess not!

Ho hum, chalk this one up as an 'err, no idea why but it's fine now so I'm happy'. Thanks to everyone who offered help, it's very much appreciated.

Glad you found it, Kate! I would've never been able to guess that one. ;)

You gonna join in the Dream Home Challenge? I think Steinie may have to extend it a month since everyone's been too busy this month.

No, 'fraid not. If I'm going to do a full project it has to be something that I want to do, not just a 'because', if that makes sense. The SMC is different cos my boredom threshold/attention span can be kept under control for two hours - just! My inspiration/ideas hit at unpredictable times and I can never say what root my next pic will take until it does. I've got one pic currently underway that's nearly finished and I'm hoping it'll get me to learn VRay. You'll know I won if I post it!
