ok Prodigy I know you can answer this one because I saw your coke bottle.. As you can see my bump is well jagged and it does not look like the sphere has the word raised on it? Any suggetions?

Check the box marked 'flt' (filter) on your bump map properties.
If that doesn't smooth it out you may need a higher resolution bump map.

ok I upped the rez to 1000/dpi. The jagged is less, but I a still getting thoe artifacts in the final render.

rjeff are you using a lossy format like jpg? If so that'd be your problem.

You need to use a lossless format like png. ;)

As Jack says, those artefacts look exactly like JPG compression artefacts (the ones surrounding the letters). JPG is a lossy compression format, it changes the colors in the image to reduce the image size, and this will show up in a bump map of course. Loading the JPG and saving as PNG will not resolve that of course, you'll need to go straight to PNG (or TGA or BMP) from a source with no lossy compression.
