Just a thought...
Wouldn't it be important to be told how the scene/model was rendered.
That way someone isn't looking at a rendering done in "native" TS and another in Vray and simply voting Vray because it looks so much better?
Dont know much about these comps so just asking.

Hi Mike,
Each of the entries has a Work In Progress thread under the image that you can click to see how they were made.
Hope that helps! :) |

Yeah. (though some of these WIP posts don't tell you how they are rendered).
I was just putting out the idea that if each pic was labeled for how they are rendered then it would put them in perspective and lend people to put more weight on the content than they may now.
Like I said, I am just putting out some thoughts that have most likely already been thought of. (I tend to do that)
Thanks

Well, it's not an unreasonable question, particularly as those of us who've been here a while tend to know what to expect from folks to some degree, and also because we tend to lapse into expecting folks to know what we're talking about (which I've been guilty of, even as a comparative 'noob').
It depends how much detail you want though; we don't want to clog up the voting threads with too much info, as that's what the WIPs are for, but you're right that it's not entirely clear what render engine was used in each case, which is what I'm assuming you want to know?
For my part, I'm only using TS5.1, so it's the built in Lightworks engine, with a mixture of infinite and image-based lights, plus a couple of post-process passes for depth of field effects.
Couldn't honestly tell you what methods the others used - I recall Kena was experimenting with VRay and talking about using Vue for his final render? As Steinie used fur/hair, I'm guessing he used VRay from thw workspace side. Butterpaw and rjeff would have to confirm but I think they both have VRay too, although BP may have just used the realtime mode in workspace? Hopefully they'll get back to you to confirm one way or another.
Exciting to see such a close race on the voting too! Well done to everyone :D |

I did two passes using hair in Dribble/3Delight on the Model Side. (Arm, Hands and Chest)
Big Foots Head was done with VRay using hair in workSpace.
"Lotta Teeth" (that's her name and don't abuse it!:D) was done using VRay.
All modeling was done in workSpace. |
