That's kinda like asking "how do I model?"

There are hundreds of different approaches depending on your target platform for the final result. Are you looking to make low poly game content? High poly SDS surfaces for rendering? What render engine are you targeting for?

To get started, you'll want to get a blue print or photo image of the car you want to model and apply that to a plane so that you can use that as a guide when in the orthographic views.

I recommend that you also check out the course I made on Organic modeling because it will cover a lot of what you need to accomplish what you are looking for:

Good luck! :)

I would start with a profile, Extrude it, then use mirror modeling to further refine the car by adding edge loops and point editing sweeps then subdividing, Also try using nurbs on the model side for some parts.. I think its easier with the Workspace modeling tools.

THis is how I got this result a long time ago with mirror modeling.

Theres 4 ways to make cars in 3d .......2 ways using nurbs and 2 ways using polys When you use nurbs you can do it the rib way .. make a certain amont of profiles and use loft tool and then cut away both my example that I made in 30 minutes and the video show this method . Second nurbs way is to make

patches and make a car out of theses . If you use polys you can start with box modeling with deviding your box and push pulling your polys or with edge extrusion where you start with a polygon and exxtrude it along the siluette

of the car and then closing it to a massive shape...

Jimb put together a couple of nice project files for people to play with. This will give you a decent starting point to play around with.

All the hard work has been done already, now you just need to push and pull polys around. Tip: the Volkswagen is a fairly advanced modeling project, while the truck was much easier.
