still in progress but I think it's worth to show some samples.

Left are 2 shots in the Realtime DX9 Player.
There is nothing precomputed. Realtime shadows and bloom&glow.
No editing in a paint program.

Stunning work. Love the black and whites. If it wasn't for the drainpipe I'd be convinced they were photographs. Great texturing work too.
Even though they irritate me, this definitely deserves a banana! |

At last - something REALLY impressive (to my critical eye anyway) from tS 7. For all the praise that has been offered about about the DX9 player capabilities and it's real time display abilities this is the first work that has really really impressed me.
Of course Parva is a true artist and could no doubt create stunning photorealism with a burnt stick on a cave wall - but to my mind images like this are what will really start to sell tS7 and it's new features.
There has been much talk about 'eye candy' but this is beyond just looking pretty.
Well done Parva - once again I stand inspired by your work. You are a true legend.
As WWotW says, this definitely deserves a banana  or two  |

I keep expecting to see the Combine or a head crab come round the corner or jump out of the dumpster at any minute, from those real-time shots ;)
Thanks for sharing, they look great!

Quite simply, superb. Before I read your description, I assumed the black and white was the original. The textures are excellent. Have you used textures from 3dtotal?
If that's what you can get from the realtime window, then I'm impressed.
Well done, you've given us all something to aspire to.
(Need to save faster for my upgrade)

thanks for all the nice words!
Indeed Chris I used some graffities from the total texture cd. Most stuff comes from Mayang, Animax or simply google picture archive.
But all are heavy sampled together in photoshop and retouched.
It was a private project to work on my texturing and UV mapping skill.
To create a nice looking scene without many polygons (against the trend which currently runs ;)). Afterwards the UV mapping could be better (all was done manually in UV Mapper Pro) but nevermind :) |

I agree with all previous comments. In the hands of a great artist we can see how much the bar has been raised with tS 7. Somebody ought to get these pics into promo material asap....they will definitely sell tS7.0.
Thanks for sharing parva |

Hi Marcel,
Outstanding work as always mate.
I love to see your work because your texturing gives me something to aspire to.
Some really great scenes/modeling here to.

I think so myself, we will do:) Marcel is a great artist, he also was very vocal with his comments about V-Ray. He deserves a lot of credit for the fact that V-Ray came out very decent in version 1.0 |

got some time and finished most of the scene...
who wants to take a closer look at the texture maps ->
http://www.parva-project.de/stuff/ts/hh_tm1.jpg
larger version - 1280x683 (http://www.parva-project.de/stuff/ts/hh_tm.jpg)
some stats:
texture maps in scene - 15 (sizes from 64x64 up to 1024x1024)
textures PSD data size on disk - 120 MB
textures JPEG data size on disk - 2,14 MB
objects in scene - 13 OBJ files
scene polycount - 9617 triangles
programs used: SILO, trueSpace, UV Mapper Pro, Photoshop
Some minor stuff and one or two pictures with some effects (burning barrel etc.) will come next... until the scene goes public ;) |

Wow, I didn't expect that scene to be that low poly for as detailed as it is, just shows how good textures are half the job. |

Stunning Marcel, absolutely stunning. I am also surprised at how few polygons this scene has, and your texturing is of course a masterpiece. I never cease to be amazed by the realism of your work. Someone was kind enough to call me a master the other day but compared to you I'm just a beginner.:)
Looking forward to more.

thanks guys. No no you are the master Madmouse :)
The UV mapping in this scene with mostly flat planar shapes was quite easy but texturing was a puzzle... after all I got some experiences for myself how I can increase my effectivity, this was the goal... next private project is to unwrap a full armed soldier (or alike), that cries for fun and anger :D |

Nothing special... the guise simple, the camera motion crappy :D
but it's really just a Camtasia Screen record from the Player.
The movement in the scene itself is smooth but Realtime Play AND Camtasia Record isn't possible with my system...
but it's extremely fast. No wait for rendering each frame (and there are more as 3000 frames ;)). Composition in After Effects.
Thanks for watching :)

Very nice parva! I am too interested in doing videos with the real time renderer or Player. Have you tried using Dele and Clintonman render to file scripts or objects? You can take a animation from scene editor and record each frame, compile into animation and presto, perfectly smooth animation. Plus be able to use any resolution you want, even 1080I with maxed settings. Can't wait to see more. . . |

@splinters - the next step ;)
the background story behind the protagonist is a bit like a mix-up from the video games "Syndicate" and "Deus Ex" (one of the best games I played so far with a great story)
@Mike - thanks.
@noko - I tried but I'm anyhow too stupid too get it working :o ... I will try it again.
One thing which would be great if the camera had a camcorder move function or alike. Where you can hold the camera with the mouse and move it like a a real camcorder in the hand - currently I haven't found a way too create similar like that (but I guess it's possible). |

H.264? that's the latest QT codec isn't it? I know there's another H.something codec, so I could be getting them mixed up, but if I'm right, then that explains why it was jerky on my system - my poor system just isn't powerful enough.

Awesome parva! :) I can't wait to see more.
Have you tried procedurally animating the cameras? I've found that method to work quite well. Plus if you animate the cameras procedurally the render to file script will work well to render the player view. The cameras would either have to be animated procedurally or keyframed for the render scripts to work properly. |

@Alien - the animation is jerky :D possible that it isn't your system. But yes H.264 is the last of the H.2x codecs as far as I know. It needs longer to decode as Divx but has a far better quality - no blocky artefacts, colors are sharp and clear. I like this format, Sorenson 3 is similar which I also use sometimes but H.2x will surely be widely used in the future (HDTV etc.).
@Délé - many thanks. No I haven't but will definitivly try :) |
