Nice, Brian!

I think some type of mist/fog coming up from where the water hits at the bottom would enhance the effect a bit (faked with a transparent fog image of some type or done with volumetrics in truespace ((light with small attenuation and adv. volumetrics enabled)) ) ...and it might help soften the sharp contrast between the water and the rock.

Hey Brian,

I'd add a bit more mist and IMOA the water at the bottom of the falls looks to still to be that close to a waterfall.

Even with that said, youve still got a good image on the go there. Keep at it mate.

How's this?

It looks better but may still be too thin. How did you accomplish that? If it was with adv. volumetrics, you may try increasing the Medium Density.

Oh...one more idea I thought of would be to use some primitives shaped like the cloud/mist, shaded with semi-transparency and maybe soft edges (using masks or a trans. filter).

EDIT: This plugin may help: http://ckgamefactory.hp.infoseek.co.jp/tsxe/edgealph.html

Just my thoughts, though! Good job on the image! I think you've picked a challenging subject, so I commend you for that!

Hmmm.

While I think that the volumetrics are helping they don't add the feeling of 'depth' that geometry does. In my opinion I'd use 2l particle systems to give it the depth it needs. That would add alot of detail and allow the environment to better reflect in the water and it's spray. I'd also add more turbulence to the water at the base, it's really calm looking, and maybe throw in stone and grasses to further breakup the surface.

I like that fact that the image is angled, but that bridge placement interfers with the waterfall alot and seems to add to the feeling of fakeness.

Hi Brian

I like what you've got so far - I always enjoy scenic or landscape work done with tS as it's a special interest of mine.

Heres some comments that I hope will help - firstly the bridge looks great. Next, the line on the right hand side of the falls which indicates the edge of the rock looks too sharp. The falls themselves - I'm not sure how you have made them but they look a little 2 dimensional to me. They lack depth.

I would recommend that you think about introducing more vegetation - every waterfall I have ever seen has LOTS of vegetation around it.

Finally, I'm not sure what version of tS you are using - I seem to recall it's an older one. Either way here (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=419) is a link to a thread with some waterfall pics I made with tS 6.6. that may give you some ideas - on the second page is a post explaining some of the lighting techniques I used.

This picture of yours has a lot of promise but the falls still need some attention IMHO - hope this helps

Stephen
