my nostalgia period catched me this weekend and I created this Turrican after playing the oldie :D

Loved that game. It was the first game I saw on the Amiga as I visited friends in the "golden west" and was stunned (there I was 10 or alike *g*).

so my tribute to Turrican.

will make a colorized version and an integration with background picture too.

thanks for viewing!

You really do like giving the rest of us an inferiority complex, don't you? ;)

:o no, that wasn't my intention :)

here my progress -

- I created a default standing pose in SILO

- Import it in tS 6 - attached a Motion Bone System and posed it in position

- Exported the posed mesh back to SILO and finetuned, adding details etc., posed the hands.

- modeled the rough alien and the base

- the alien sculpt with the SILO 2 beta

- export all to tS 7 and rendered

rendering took some time, subjective 18 to 25 minutes but it's a straight out render. Have nothing retouched in paintprogram.

hehe, hear the voices from my friends ringing in my ear, that I need a girlfriend :D *g* but if I bite on something I must bring it to an end or I will not touch it again. Now I can concentrate me again on important things :D

thanks for the comments.

You know Parva, it's times like these when I wish the Vulcan Mind Meld actually was something that worked...

That is excellent work! :p

Woah, awesome model! I also remember the game, but only vaguely (I was an Atari ST rather than Amiga guy, since I was into MIDI music at the time). It was a classic right enough - I am sure I played it sometime, though I forget when and on what system.

Anyway, nostalgia or not, this is a great image!

Thanks!

Tom

This is one sweet Turrican model and definitely captures the flavour of the old amiga game artwork - would love to see it placed in an action scene - very nicely rendered too

Marcel, have you posted your work anywhere other then renderosity i.e CGSociety etc.

Now this would get people talking about TS.

Bloody amazing work as usual...and I thought i was fast...

@chrono - indeed :D ... SILO 2 beta has some annoying bugs (but which beta hasn't) and some unnecessary changes (you told it already this Shape/Object thing for example) but the brush tool is really handy. Needs just some extensions and fixes for use with graphic pen.

@splinter - no, I'm not registered at CGsociety. Just lurk around in the Cgtalk forums sometime.

Nice one Parva! Marcel the thing that always stands out about your artwork for is the subtle things you do that make your work unique. Great attention to detail is a part of it but also you sem to know what to leave out of an image to make it good - If I'd made this model I would have put him in a scene with all sorts of extra stuff but you turn it into a little statuette and create what is IMHO a masterpeice - well done, you are an inspiration sir!
