Hey everyone:

I got back to this image of Gollum I started on TS. 6.6 and finished it in 7.1. Would love some in put on the model, just be some what nice this is the first complex head I have done. Also let you now I did this with out a image reference in side TS. I looked at a figure of Gollum. Not the smartest thing I did, but it was a big chalenge for me.

niiiice.. he could be a little smoother in the eyelids .. and his mouth\jaw seems a litle too narrow\pinched, but I'd have to see Gollum again to be sure. Nice job for sure though!

Thanks Chester for the info and the input on the face. I see what you are saying. I am working on it to see what I can do to make the changes. I simplified the mesh and pulled out the model of gollum again to take a closer look. Hope to have the changes soon. Does any one have a good way to fake translucent look for skin.

Very good for a first try. As Chester said:- the mesh could do with smoothing a bit, and I think the eyes would benefit from being lighter and have more reflection to add a wet look.

Good point from MadMouse. A subtile bumpmap (amp ~0.01) for eyes helps to catch more highlights. Also increase shininess.

To add to whats been said about the eyes - give them something to reflect. A simple plane set behind your camera position, coloured white with the luminance up a bit (experiment to find your prefered settings) will reflect in the eyes and give them a greater sense of liveliness.

Good work so far - I like it!

Good point on the eyes will give it a try and put something for the eyes to reflect that would help bring them out, the idea about the texture is great I will add it. Thanks again for the help I stayed up last night till about 3:00 am CST. and did smooth out the mesh, it has made a world of deference in the look, and I have not even put on the skin yet. Still does any one have a good way to fake translucent look in the skin. One more thing what program do you use to make screen shoots?

For screenshots, simply press the print key on your keyboard and insert (paste) it in your image editor.

Fantasitc job, btspro - especially considering you didn't use a reference within trueSpace.

Keep sharing your work!

NIce Gollum for sure!

From your wire here there looks like a lot of tris, correct me if wrong could be backside as well, this could explain the "strains" or whatever called around mouse eyes etc, because of misshadows, still might give his this expression he really got ;)

All models should have zero tri's... easy to correct...

Thanks Ambrose

Yes there is a few of those in there. I have been taking them out. I think they got in there when I used the smooth function in TS and yes you are right zero tri's is the way togo.
