Is the shadow in the foreground a self portrait, kind of a big nose looking to the left;)

I see that we have some cool new features in VRay 1.5 but since I'm talking to myself here...nda...nda...nda

Is it just me or is the picture out of focus, or a bit soft? Nice picture apart from that though :-)

I don't think he is allowed to answer. Probably testing the new DOF in VRay 1.5 (which is an assumption on my part)

Yup it's a little soft. I was a little short with the DOF (my fault) -- it's focused just a bit in front of the frame. But it looked good and I'd rendered it at 1600x1200 with all the settings WAY UP so wasn't gonna sit through that one again. Plus it was 6:00AM and I needed to get some sleep. ;-)

LOL Steinie you give me too much credit! I just made a wiggly stick and filled two bowls full of white balls, then dropped a few jacks in visibly pleasing locations... but now that you mention it, I think it does look a bit like a face... of course that beats the phallic alternative.... :(

Thanks guys :) I'm still fighting that trend of never completing anything so I picked a bit simpler just for fun task.

@Matski, I think you'll be pretty happy with it. It's night and day compared to 7.11 which felt completely discombobulated to me. 7.5 is definitely the best version of TrueSpace that I've used thus far and I think Splinters has posted a similar sentiment. Plus I'd point out that there's not a lot of public gnashing of teeth and warnings of "don't do it guys!" coming from the beta community like with the 7.11 release so that's gotta be a good sign for you guys right? ;)

I think there will still be plenty for them to do for 8.0 but progress seems to be coming at a furious pace. Don't know if they have the stamina to maintain the current pace, but now might be a good time to get proTeam and buy into all the new courses they are going to have to make because of the UI change and the new animation tools and it would get you a free upgrade to 8.0... (and make sure you mention my name when you purchase... :p lol!) :D

Excuse but i don´t like it.

The same result is possible with VRay 1.0 and i don´t think that this is the best result of 1.5.

i am sure there is much more possible and i can´t realy see the caustic effects.

I don´t plan to attack you j_edwards or youre feeling for 3D scenes but this isn´t my taste.

This is my personal subjective meaning.

and excuse my poor english.

It's cool Vizu, LOL! :) Like I said it's a just for fun doodle and I think you're taking it way too seriously.

Ah but I have got an idea from this project that'll let me do something you can't in 1.0 though...naturally I can't say anything about it (or Norm will send the guys in black suits again...), but stay tuned... MWAAhaaahaaahaaa :D :p

j_edwards, nice render and yes, the focus are on the wrong place...

Vizu, i think edwards doesnt use caustics.. only transparent shadows with soft shadows enabled.. ;)

Here is a another sample rendered on Vray 1.5 with caustics..

Sorry for the low quality just for a fast render..
