Quick animation using keyframes and rigged character. It's so easy to crank out the frames with real time render, so I bought another hard drive.:)

That's pretty cool SteveBe. Say, did you render the workspace to individual stills? I was looking for an option to render an entire animation to an avi (from real time render), instead of stills, but could not find one (maybe I missed it somewhere)

Thanks frootee!

I'm using PNG stills, which is fine with me as I would prefer that to avi.
I know some people would like to go directly to avi but with the speed of real time
render I have to wonder why. You're probably aware of this but VirtualDub is free &
can be used to assemble stills.

Hey SteveBe. You're welcome!

I use Adobe Premiere, but I was thinking it would be nice to record the workspace real time render directly to a video file. Normally I prefer to render stills then compile them into an avi file; but sometimes I'm just plain lazy.

Thanks; that answers my question.

Okay, next question:

Did you use keyframes to generate physics, where TG adjusts the logo?

Thanks frootee!

No, just keyframed the logo rotation and moved/timed it to match TG motion.

Pretty cool SteveBe

I usually render frames as well. Force of habit from older days. I always had troubles with compression of videos during rendering and thus started saving .avi uncompressed. Well, after one or two crashes I learned pretty quick that it's better to have individual frames up to the point of the crash than it is to have a single "broken" avi file.

Current version seems pretty stable render-wise though for me.

Thanks Prof K! I sometimes used uncompressed avi in the past too. But then you loose
the option for alpha channel etc. Always preferred 32 bit targa.

BTW, I've had some success with gen-locking workSpace realtime output.
Not really good for glass or trans. objects but good for knocking out backgrounds.

I'm using a Photoshop 3 action to batch a folder of images to automate the process.
The new Refine Edge tool in PS3 is giving some pretty good results.:)

32 bit tga is one of my favorite formats. Alas, I don't have the full blown version of photoshop so batch processing for me usually takes the form of writing a quick one-time C program. As it happens, the uncompressed 32 bit .tga format is extremely simple to read and write programmatically so I use it quite often.

One day I'll have to invest in the full version of Photoshop (currently using Photoshop Elements 1.0). Should also be helpful in completing the master course on texture creation by Norbert Esser.

Some thing that I've found to help with the jerkyness of the rendered animation is to make the animation twice as long rendering out double the needed frames (effectively 60 FPS), load the frames up in VirtualDub and set the frame rate to 60FPS, then downsample it out to a 30FPS AVI. The result is a butter smooth animation. No comparison really.

It'd be helpful if Vray and WS render to file gave us the option to render out diferent frame rates. Or alternately that we could set the frame rate so that it played back in the Animation Editor at the frame rate we want to render at....?

Thanks Steve for pointing this out to me in the other forum ;)

Thought I'd share it for the community:

To bring it up: Make the Animation Editor the active window and click on the settings tab in the stack view.
