I know that original Vray has multiframed incremental irradiance map for animation. It dramatically increase animation speed. http://www.vray.info/topics/t0094.asp. Can we count on this option in the future?

Hi Changa,

The NDA agreement for beta testers prevents everyone in the know from commenting on questions like this. Which is probably why you haven't gotten an answer yet.

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do this in 7.11 or 7.5 since I think all you have to do is download the external app provided by the guys at Chaos Group (makers of V-Ray) and use it to create your incremental irradience map.

If in 7.11 you right click on the render icon it pops up a PhotoRender menu, choose VRay for the render engine then right click on the render icon again which will pop up the Vray settings panel. Click on the drop down that says "Default" and change the Vray settings tab to "Full", you'll see where you can check the "Save Irrad. Map" check box and type in your file. Right next to that is the "Load Irrad. Map" check box.

Of course in 7.1 you'd have to render out each frame manually... ;)

Hope that helps!

I know how to save Irr. map, but nevertheless thanks, Jack. My question was - should I wash all 100000 frames of animation by hands, or use semiautomatic washing machine like imapviewer by Chaos, or can hope of the automatic washing machine? Incremental Irr. maps calculates map first - automatically, second- not for each frame and fird- it works like mpeg coder- saves key map and then just recalculate missing part from frame to frame. That's why it is much faster. And last. We are in feature suggestions forum, so this question was my suggestion.;)

That'd be a nice washing machine. :-)

As far as I know, even the 3dsMax guys have to use the irmapviewer. They just render from a few key angles. Scrub through the animation (rendered low res) to find the problem areas, then add just those frames to the irmap as needed. *shrug*
