Hello all of you.

I don't understand why, but my VirtuaLight Render Preferences panel refuses to show up, when I right-clicking one of the render buttons, after some starts of TS7.1... I mean, it works fine for couples of days, and after that it just vanish.

I have read all of the post in here, considering VirtuaLight problems (with right paths and all that stuff), but I haven't found problem like mine?

Is there something I should know?

Thanks.

Not sure this is the case, after all at the beginning the panel shows up fine in front of my view (also custom full screen). Plus, I find it inconvenient to search for my preferences panels all over my working space!!!

After several uninstalls and installs of TS7.1 the problem remains the same - VirtuaLight Preferences works for couples of starts of the program, and vanishes after that. I understand that this is not the main render engine, but... grrr....

well Nick..after a few more tries, my virtualight panel is permenantly gone too..I can't find it anywhere..also I keep crashing trying to change back the renderer to either lightworks or vray until I put in a backup "default.ctx" ..which didn't bring back the virtualight panel ..

Hah, Stan... why do you have to deal with it :)

I believe there is a explanation of this. If not... uuh... I will have to re-uninstal and re-install TS again and again...

Can't seem to replicate this. Although these may be obvious, worth a try;

Check VL is enabled as renderer either in stack (default layout) or by opening preferences panel (full layout).

R-Click on any render icon to bring up panel also see if it is minimised down to a tiny thin tool bar (red triangle). Not sure what else otherwise...

OK, there is something new:

http://www.nicstudio.com/temp/ts71.jpg

VirtuaLight Render Preferences exist as a separate application in my win task bar, apart from TS71. Unfortunately, I can not switch to maximize it. It is not behind any of my TS panels and/or windows. It is completely useles, except for showing me that it is there.

Make sure the tS/VL window is active and open according to the icon in the taskbar, then have another program window on screen. Right click the taskbar and select "Tile Windows Horizontally/Vertically" and see if it appears.

Awhile back I started getting these kinds of errors in a couple of apps, and it turned out to be a faulty stick of RAM. I don't know if it is what you are experiencing, but it might be worth checking out. Hope that helps!

Well, I don't know whether my RAM is the reason, because everything works just fine - according to the FINAL ADJUSTMENTS of VL Preferences. The only problem is that I can't bring up the panel to change these.

And after I post the printscreen, my VL finaly disappeared from my win task bar. I also get my portion of error messages when I am trying to change the render engine, Stan, but I am getting used to

Hi I have managed to replicate the panel not showing, also managed to replicate a crash .

I will pass on my reports and findings to the respective developers.

Thanks for the reports.

I am having the same problem here as well. What should the hexadecimal Value data be for the Value name: PanelY in the registry? I am using 1024 x 768 resolution. Or can this be fixed by editing the registry?

 If that value is the Y position of the panel it's no wonder you can't see it! Try a hex value of 320 [800 in decimal].

I reinstalled trueSpace again and noted the VirtuaLight render preference panel for future reference.

If this happens to anyone else, close tS, download this .reg file (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/alien42/images_for_caligari_forum/VirtuaLightPanelPosition.reg), then in explorer right-click on it & select Merge. When you restart tS & go to open the VL options panel you should find it roughly in the middle of your screen [the primary monitor if you have a dual-monitor system].

No probs, glad I could help. I'd love to know how trueBlue [& perhaps you as well, you didn't say what value yours had been set to] ended up with that value - you'd have needed 32 monitors [at 1024x768] on the same system to see that panel! http://homepage.ntlworld.com/alien42/smilies/dunno.gif

Well for myself trueSpace had a Fatal Error when rendering the v ring scene with default settings. I do believe I was using the Stack Preferences and changed the Mutithread option to off.

It's certainly a weird bug, looks like it's multiplied your screen width by 32.

It might be helpful for the devs if you could reproduce that crash, but this time with your screen res set higher [if your monitor can go higher]. If my theory about it multiplying the screen res by 32 is right, the PanelY value after the crash should end up as 8fff for 1152x864, & 9fff for 1280x1024.

Alien..my entries were the same as trueBlue's..:).

.in my floating based layout if I load virtualight using the old preferences panel.."always on top" works with the render panel when it's open..if I load it via the stack..it hides behind my viewport window when I click on it....

Nvm... for some reason the .reg file wasn't updating the reg settings but I got it working now. Thanx a bunch =)
