Thought something weird was going on when using the animation view window but I wasn't sure until this happened. I had been working with Bobby in the workspace and I deleted him. Then I clicked on new scene. the info in the animation view window stayed there. I loaded the fish object from the model space library and went back into workspace and "boned" him. I wanted to do a simple animation to see if I could make the skeleton invisible. Problem was Bobby was still showing up in the animation view even though I'd deleted him. I right-clicked on the name Bobby, and a menu popped up with a option to "delete". I clicked that repeatedly and nothing would happen "Bobby" and his animation track was still there and wouldn't go away.

I clicked on the 4D and changed it to 2D, then when I clicked back to 4D, I got what you see below in the screen-grab. Nothing I could do would bring back the animation view "story" contents so I could do another animation. And as you can see, even though I have "show skeleton" unchecked, the skeleton still shows up!

I am not very happy with just how buggy 7.5 is. I'm finding it almost un-useable.

when you switched from 4d to 2d then back the AE refreshed and shows no keyframes becuse the dolphin had no keyframes set yet,

If the AE was playing when you you created new scene, the AE continues playing even when creating new scene and was probaly trying to refresh that view with old frames still playing.

Your previous action of deleting bobby probably took a second.

You have to select the dolphin as actor in 2d, workspace or skeleton in 2d before tracks apear in 4d

I have posted a solution to the skeleton hiding in the other thread.

Didn't work though, I selected my new object, created another object, nothing I did would return the animation view to a working state...I eventually gave up and had to re-start TS to get it working...I was able to duplicate the same thing happening twice more.

You selected one object then created another object?

If your object that is selected has no keyframes, nothing will show in AE until a keyframe is set.

Also how did you create another object? from library?

If so if other object was selected when creating new object, then the two might have become one.

Haha! This will get confusing...talking to you in two threads at the same time :p

What I had tried to say was I drag & dropped another character onto the workspace...I then did select it...I would have created a keyframe for it but nothing in the anim view was working anymore. Clicking the keyframe record button did nothing. Nothing was showing in the left hand info panel of the anim view, and even the hash marks and the scrubbing handle (??) weren't showing up as you can see from the pic above.

I've installed 7.5 on my sons computer which is much more powerful than mine (go figure) and will see if I can duplicate this on his machine later, if not, then perhaps it's just an issue of my computer being barely above the minimum specs. I'll report what I find ;)

I have this happen when I try to record a keyframe with a joint selected rather than the character - uncovered this in the beta thread. When I do that, the AE gets into a situation similar to what you describe, it is empty and won't display anything.

A close and restart cleared it up for me, and then ensuring I didn't use the record key while I had a joint selected and made sure I was back at the character level did the trick for just now.

It may not be the same cause as yours (but it might), but I have seen and reported similar behavior. Uncovered this post-release while working on some more manual videos.

HTH!
