Has anyone seen this error before. It seems to happen if I minimize TrueSpace for any length of time or leave my machine and it locks...I disabled the screensaver and it still happens...

Yup. I get it all the time. Opening the LE and selecting an object then each of the lights usually fixes it. Sometimes you just have to close and restart TS.

I'm dubbing it, "The Grey Screen of Death"....

Happens to me as well. All I do is change the window from 3D to 2D and then back to get it functioning correctly.

Yeah, I usually switch to the modeller and back again, that does it. Modeller is fine however....Still, it's a little annoying really.

I think it has to do with TS losing the DX surface.

Had a problem in another 3d program and I had to drop the speed of the video card. It may be working to fast for the program. After that no problems.

Yup, always happens to me on my laptop after I have shut the screen.

@brotherx - I found switching to model side worked, however it is very slow with big scenes because of the bridge. I found Norm's method is much faster.

No worries there. The machine I use that it happens on has a rubbish really slow onboard video card so slowing it down would make it useless.

I tried this but I found that it messed up and I had to reset the settings...was really annoyed. Besides, I've not had models with more than a couple of thousand (if that) polys to worry about that yet. Did find switching to model lost the textures tho...perhaps another bug?

Gee, ya think?
Glad to see I'm not the only one who loses textures over the railing of the bridge.
Don't know where they go, but it sure made rendering tougher!

The texture loss is almost always because you have a shader on one side, whether it be Workspace or Model, that has no equivalent on the other side. When you swap between WorkSpace and Model views the object and shaders have to be transferred between the views. The Bridge can translate most of the native shaders but if there is no equivalent then the Bridge attempts a best fit and if this is not possible you will inevitably lose the texture.

Yeah, but how do you explain this:

When I switch to modeller and back, about 80% of the model lost the textures but 2 of the objects (was my speed model entry, a xylophone), a side panel and one of the bars retained the texture but the rest lost it...I used the texture picker to re-apply, switched to modeller and back and they were gone again except for the original 2 objects.

Wierd, huh...? I think maybe the texture picker is missing something out so when the textures are being selected with the picker then applied to other shapes there is something key missing. The thing is it transfers to modeller fine too.

I'd be suspicious of a hierarchy that hasn't been collapsed properly before attempting to transfer via the Bridge.
