Okay, chill you lame TAPT dude. The tourist program is absolutely
messed, it should work like this. 90 day trial per email address, no
free email addresses allowed. *cuts from worldbuilders and crossposts to
wishlist*

Re: The twittiest twit of them all

It's rather simple to determine which email addresses are free and which ones
aren't. Just nail down all the major providers (Hotmail, Geocities, Yahoo,
Email, Teleport) and some other minor ones. Unfortunately, this gives AOL users
a distinct edge-They can get 7 email addresses per account.

I'm all for it. Also, a notice of build and version would be nice, as well as the size of the
download, not that it can be concievably huge concicdering AW is a relatively small program without
it's cache.

tourist property deletion

Old post, new reply, new angle. AWCI should put a bot on AWGZ that scans the
text for coordinates, and when it detects some, it scans the area of those
coords for 100 sq coords and vaporizes all tourist builds :) Makes my job as
an anti-tourist much easier.

skin for browser

Feb 5, 2001, 11:54pm
Skins would be nearly impossible leaving the AW browser as customizable as
it is. Theres the action buttons which change with each avatar, skinning
them would suck because of the various sizes, etc. Then theres the av menu
which changes for each world. If you're planning on skinned menus and
buttons you're prettymuch screwed. Then Theres the resizable/removable panes
on the main window. Skins are fixed size and don't grow very well. So if
someone made an 800x600 fullscreen skin, low res users would be out of luck
as would extremely high res users because 800x600 can get FRIGGIN TINY on
some resolutions. If they skinned the web pane, it's stuck open. If they
didn't you can't use it. If the skin's text pane is 3x the size of the view
pane, it's stuck that way. For things like Winamp where the menus don't
change, all is well and good. Also, Winamp windows aren't resizable with the
exception of the playlist and minibrowser which are special exceptions to
the rule because the edges of the window can be extended.

Take ICQ for example. I send a message to you and then run netstat from DOS
prompt (included with Windows 95 and higher), and your DNS is in there.
Resolve that to an IP and b00m, you have an IP address.

Make AW in delphi

Feb 18, 2001, 3:25pm
Windows may be the worst piece of software sold, but can you explain why I
never noticed any problems, no crashes, nothing after a single Windows
session lasting 14 days with the computer in constant use doing SOMTHING
(either I was on it or it was processing SETI at Home data) until I installed a
game and rebooted? In my opinion, Windows is only worth the computer you put
it on. If it's a name brand computer, you're probably going to experience
problems because *GASP* you never install a fresh copy of Windows, only a
pre-prepared copy on your company's restore disk along with a million other
software titles. Default Windows files are sacraficed for proprietary
version. However, if you go for your own home brewed system, as long as the
hardware doesnt have any problems, you should be completely stable.
Another anti-Linux arguement is the fact that virtually no major programs
like Word, Excel, Powerpoint, all the buisiness essentials are ported to
Linux.

Not that Linux is 100% bad or anything. It's just not mainstreamed yet and
since no company is behind it to assure it isn't going to change
drastically, developers will be slow to make programs for it. It's great for
things like servers, that I agree on. Windows 9x (including ME for you
lamers who think it's not basically Windows 99) and Windows NT (Including
2000 for those of you who are total idiots and think it's part of the 9x
line) are pathetic excuses for server OS'es.

Honestly, do we need to bring the 10 year old MaStUr HaX0rS that live and
breathe Linux to AW? The paranoid ones among us would be running around in a
complete panic because 5 people just threatened to hack their computer
because they can't build. I just say "Go right ahead, but if by any chance
you succeed I have your location right here to give the FBI Cyber Crimes
division. That makes the little hax0rs shuddup and go lay in bed and cry
every time.

management is HORRIBLE, I get nothing except Windows out of my 64mb (HEH.
Why do I always end up with only 64mb) without going to vram and I find it
very customizable with the appropriate GUI extensions. In fact, I can now
encrypt and decrypt files with everything up to 1024 bit encoding with a

Windows 98 SE is 100% controllable, 100% customizable and 101% stable if you

software leaves a lot to be desired, as does the sheer size of it all. And
the fact that instead of using Windows Explorer, we use Internet Explorer to

fried 5 modems in one night.) The Kernel doesn't exist so you can't really
change it. Why would you want to rename an OS unless you're going to release
it anyway? And I'm not quite sure what you mean by "what is going to be
started." When I get a full scale server running, Linux will be the OS of
choice however. Dual boot with Win2k on a secondary drive (For testing
