Well it would seem I have been on a roll lately, I have some down time at the moment so I have been updating my portfolio. This is a work in progress, still a few details to add and tweak, so I would appreciate some comments or suggestions.
Oh ya while I think of it, the car isn't mine, came with DePak, BKP 3D Car Collection. Rendered with TS7 and Vray.

Funny but I really like the wall in the foreground with the DOF. Many renders avoid anything intrusive in the frame and you get what looks like a house all alone in a field. This view gives it realism, as if your neighbour is spying on you from their house....it is illegal you know...;) |

I agree with splinters, looks more like a propper image with a wall and road and other stuff in the background rather than a house sat on an empty planet:)

Thanks folks, I usually try and put something between the camera and the main subject, just makes for a more interesting piece. |

I like it, but as usual a comment from me, if you look at the sky and the trees the amount of light outside is a bright sunny day, you would require brighter light on casting on the scene.
Also watch the shadows, Is the shadow under the tree from a model or from the background picture. The two squares show shadows going different directions.
Just my 2 cents

Thanks Behzad, as usual you are correct about the lighting, the shadow however is actually coming from another tree just out of view. |

Excellent! Apart from the sky looking slightly too bright I'd say you've nailed this one - looks great. The foreground wall is a nice touch - it breaks the rules of an "ideal composition" which makes it look more real IMHO.
Looks like it could be a nice place to live. |

It has very good presentation. Nice conceptual design. The background blends well. Though the overall scene could be just a touch brighter, the light and shadows, and reflections are realistic. You've provided proportionate scale. The foreground is a very nice touch.
I must comment on the roof. The roof edges don't appear to be of a real structural material. Maybe thin them down a little and add another offset line.
Overall, good work. |

Thanks Ronrn, I will look into it, I guess my orginal thinking was the make the roof like the rest of the building but I think you idea is more realistic. I will post an update when I get sometime to make some changes. In the meantime this variation is just for fun. Has some possibilities, but it would mean I would have to add some objects inside and find a better background image as I had the shakes when I took it ;).

Looks great, I like your placement of the boulders and bushes, except the bush to the left seems like it should go in the corner instead of in front of the window. But that's just my asthetic opinion; maybe bring the smaller boulder out a bit (not too close to the curb though). Enough of my landscaping critique though. Good work!

Very nice Daybe, I don't see too many flat roof dwellings, nice change. Now maybe a silhouette of a women dressing behind curtains ;) will give that neighbore spying or peeping tom look from the wall :) . |

Thanks Noko, This one is finished, but I think I will start to work on the night version now as I think it may work out quite nice, maybe I will use your suggestion and put a women in the window in that one.

Lookign forward to the night time one. Maybe it would look good it was really dark with the lights on and a street lamp outside:confused: :confused: Only a suggestion

Nice work - I like the different temperatures of light in the night time scene - the warm tungstun type lights from the house and the cool nighttime ambient light. Good work |

Thanks W!zard, here is an update, not qute there but getting closer. I removed the little trees from around the house and may do so in the day version of this, doesn't really come across to well.

Daybe: This is looking great! I was gonna suggest landscaping lights the other day. How about a small 3D tree "Japanese Maple" in the dark corner with a wall high lighter. |

Really good lighting. I was playing with nighttime lighting too. If I were you, though I'm not, but if, I would add some walls in the first floor and switch of lights in some rooms, just for some variaty :D |

Great render, the DOF really adds effect to the realism of the image, as before the car seemed to be letting the image down a bit. |

Thanks for everyones comments, Here is an update. And I guess I would consider these complete as I wasn't going for hyper-realism. I removed the trees along around the outside of the building as I felt they were not working out... looked fake. I think I should have posted this first in the WIP thread sorry for that.
