Thanks again prodidgy, i seem to have the same options as you when it comes to v-ray but it still will not render anywhere near as good as your example. Is there any where we have to change settings? and yeah we payed for vray

When I first got into 3D (early nineties on an old amiga!) I spent more time in my first 6 months rendering primitives and trying to learn about textures, lighting and animating translations than anything else. I modelled simple things and now 13 yrs later - I'm still not much of a modeller - I except its not where my skills lie but I can do what I need to do for my images and I am getting better.

My points being a) my ambitions have always outstripped my abilities - b) there is more to tS than just modelling - c) some of us just aint modellers! but at least there are plenty of models available on the net and from cover disks etc.

Don't beat yourself up, don't chuck a brick at your computer - just chip away at it and last but not least DRAW. (The biggest trick to successful modelling is being able to visualise what you want to do - orthographic drawing ...) :)

Burnart, I'm older than you...I started 3D on a NEW Amiga when it first came out...:D

Have you looked at Docs for VRay that come with the program yet?

Also there are threads here discussing settings for different scenarios:

This is another good one!

http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=3097

Right click on the VRay Render button to bring up the settings in the stack. Also check the "Default" tab when the Vray settings come up for other settings.
Also remember there is a very important pdf VRay file installed that helps you understand VRay. I think Parva might have written it

Lol...

Few vray points..

1) start without any lights on your scene, then enable GI (Global Illumination)

Set the color to white and try to render with low quality.. there's is a lost of time starting with high quality.. ;)

Later start to add lights... and change the settings one by one to get the best result as possible..

Show me what are you doing :)

Aham... you still working with Screenshots! hehehe..

im little concern if you know how to work with vray...

About the models, are looking good..

You may use UV tools on the table to get the right wood mapping..

Classic, here are a small example about GI. is no good enough but maybe you can see what you can do like how a texture can emmit light touching the ambient value..

Regards.

If you look at the grab you posted further down, where it says Render Engine you have Lightworks chosen. There is a small black arrow to the right of that which allows you to access a drop down menu and select Vray...if you have it installed. Voila...:D

P.S Once Vray is selected, a right click of the render icon in the main UI should bring up the Vray options if they are not already there.
