question: Do we still have jerking issues on descent with the elevator?

The Teleportation should be fine but I did upload a new "Avatar Lock Trigger" in that thread that links instead of reading through script. So with a hard link like that it should be smoother.

Keep in mind that collisions with the object could still create jerkiness. You'll want to shrink the lock object really small, or offset the Avatar so unwanted collisions don't take place.

Thanks Délé,

With this it looks like the final obstacle to us all having smooth working elevators in our scenes is completely behind us. Great work.

Thanks you so much.

ah okay. I thought the jerking was caused by the avatar hitting the elevator platform, not the trigger. For some reason I assumed the trigger sphere was not a geometric object, only a visible representation of the trigger location. Duh.

Thanks!

Yeah, the sphere is an actual object. I made reference to it as only a visual reference in the videos. I just meant it's size (or radius) has no influence on when the trigger will activate. The trigger can cause jerkiness. It shouldn't if the radius is set to zero though.

Another thing that may have contributed to jerkiness is the Avatar colliding with the object it's locked to. You can adjust the Xoffset, Yoffset, and Zoffset to make the avatar offset from the object it's locked to. This should help avoid collision problems.

The last thing that can contribute to jerkiness is the way the script ran off of the timer. The script activated every 15ms. So that's not really the smoothest way to go about it. This last issue here should be eliminated now because it creates direct links to the EyeCamera instead of manipulating it through a script that activates every 15ms.
