Today, I had this image printed (personal use of course) at a photo developer's along with some holiday snaps as I needed 100 prints for a reduced rate. I even neglected to print some of my own images.

Needless to say I am very impressed...hard to believe you do not make a living from these.:D

I am flattered, Paul. Thanks.

Problem with going pro, is you have to work to deadlines, whereas when I started with this project in February 2005, I gave myself a year to bring it to fruition. I doubt if I would have achieved the same result had I had to do this for a client with all sorts of requirements and limitations...

Good for you mate...don't know what is more impressive; your image or your patience..;)

Still, I would love to see this with HDRI in TS7-if you did want it trying out-I can assure you of my complete confidentiality...may even swing you towards TS7-it really is quite good.:)

PM me if you are interested-you were kind enough to share your paint shaders with me in the past (wouldn't mind your paint settings for this scene either-could recreate setup for a HDRI render;) )

Thanks Paul. I'll keep your offer in mind should I decide to move to ts7.

Cheers

No problem mate although this should definitely be one for the image competition. Not sure if winner gets TS7 now...

Pop a few different shots in i_maker; its not always the final 'money shot' that grabs Roman's attention. I believe one of your previous winning entries was quite an abstract view of one of your cars...:D

The proportions of the SRC11 are more evident on this view.

If you look carefully, you can see the handbrake, gear-shift lever, dash air-vents, etc. This is a fully appointed interior.

I had no doubts it would be good i_maker. Again, this is absolutely excellent-win yerself a copy of TS7 and see how it looks then...;)

However, for TS6 this is brilliant work.

Brilliant car, looks just like a concept car render from a top notch company. Keep it up :jumpy:

Excellent model i Maker. I like the different views as it shows the interior. I see you have put alot of detail also in to that. A very good piece of modelling, keep it up:D

I_maker; after you've finished modelling the car, if you havent already, are you planning to put it in a scene, for example on a racetrack, or maybe on one of those podium things that are on concept car ads. You could have it spinning and make a video of it. Just a few of my rambling ideas. :jumpy:

i certainly like the sound of that idea. If I was you I would be takin something like that into consideration as this could make the image look better. Dont no what you like though I_Maker when it comes to backgrounds etc of your images. :)

From What I have seen so far you seem the kind of person who likes a nice white background with soft shadows around the model but I have not yet seen any other of your work.:D

Thank you all for viewing and your comments.

Hemulin, Stoker, I am still working on various rendering alternatives. As for animating this beast, it will hard due to the very high poly count (about 1.5 million). I will have to work on reducing the poly count a bit before even attempting to animate it. But I did have this in mind, for future development...

Yes, I hadn't thought of that:rolleyes:

I presume each frame takes over an hour to render?

Another option is to hire out a universities computer suite and run tsnet and truespace on all of the machines, that wold cut down your render time:D

Yet again, another candidate for TS7. The realtime player side is able to handle millions of polygons at a time while ensuring a smooth frame rate-you could simply rotate the car while doing a macro record-instant animation...:jumpy:

Of course it would not be such a high quality render bu at least you could show it off in 3D.

i_maker this is an absolutely gorgeous model. The details attest to your flawless modeling skills. I would have to agree with the afore mentioned comments on seeing this one rendered with vray or a renderer that can give you GI as well as hdri.

Thanks, Nephos. I guess I have gone as far as ts6.6 would allow with this sort of detailed modeling. On more than one occasion, I hit the no-go barrier as soon as the poly count went beyond 1.5 million: fatal rendering errors meant I had to compromise by having to reduce the face count or the target resolution.

From what you said, Splinters, it looks like ts7 would resolve that problem? I have a 9 months old Dell 8400 with P4 HT EMT64 3.5GHZ, 1GB RAM, with 128MB ATI Radeon video card: do you think ts7 will run on this machine, or do I have to upgrade to a more powerful machine? I wish I had known more about ts7 and I would have waited for the new dual core machines to come out first. I got my new Dell just a couple of months before dual core PC's hit the market... and then Roman announced that ts7 was written specifically to take advantage of dual core processors!

It looks like ts7 will be a worhtwhile upgrade...

I am running TS7 on;

AMD Athlon Xp 3000+

2Gb Dual Channel Kingston Pc3200

Ati Radeon 9800 Pro 256mb

120gb HD

19" Monitor

It runs pretty sweet on that setup-There is much better out there but I am happy with this for now. See if ya can win a copy before you buy...you might want to check that winning prize is TS7 rather than TS6...;)

Like I said before i_maker, if you want to supply the scene I can render it for you in new Lightworks engine(with timings) with and without HDRI. Can also throw it around the player side-that way you will get an idea of how it would run on your machine as it sounds similar to mine-you have my reassurance that it will not be used beyond testing on my rig. Now which other forum offers you personal demo'ing like this....? Your choice but the offer is there. PM if temptation gets the better of you.

I_Maker, I would not buy TS7 as Splinters say if it is possible to win TS7 I would certainly have a go at it. Also I would consider building your own PC as it is usually cheaper and you can choose your own PC spec. (only a suggestion)

Yeah that is my favorite error followed by a crash. I have a few projects I have abandoned due to that one. Your specs look ok for 7 just depending on the ATI version card used. As long as it supports direct x 9 you should be ok. Video card upgrade+Upgrade cost keeps me at 6.6 for a few more months.

Thanks for the tip about the video card, Nephos. I suspect that might be the Achilles' heel of any system intended for ts7.
